Walmart sells China e-commerce platform to JD.com

(Telecompaper) Walmart and JD.com have announced an e-commerce and retail alliance for consumers across China. The deal includes a wide range of business initiatives, covering both online and offline retail. Under the deal, Walmart will buy a 5 percent stake in JD.com and sell its Yihaodian e-commerce platform to the US company, including the Yihaodian brand, website and app. Walmart will continue to operate the Yihaodian direct sales business and will be a seller on the Yihaodian marketplace. The two companies will work together on growing the Yihaodian brand and business under its current name and market position.
