Wi-Fi Alliance introduces Wi-Fi 6 branding for 802.11ax

2018-10-03 19:12:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) The Wi-Fi Alliance has introduced a simplified way of naming next generation Wi-Fi technology. The latest standard, 802.11ax, will now be called Wi-Fi 6. The designation will make it easier for manufacturers and users, the former to market the Wi-Fi capabilities in their devices, and the latter to understand if their devices conform to the latest technology. The Wi-Fi designation is both for devices supporting a Wi-Fi technology and for the Wi-Fi network itself. Marvell was among the first to say it would be using the Wi-Fi 6 branding.
