Apparel imports into the US bounced back in November as retailers stocked up on merchandise ahead of the holiday season, with all but one of the leading supplier countries booking the growth. While China rebounded from its decline in October, five of the top ten suppliers, including Vietnam and Bangladesh, managed to book double-digit gains.

Monsanto on Wednesday said it swung to a $253-million loss in the first fiscal quarter, amid foreign currency pressures and falling sales of its biotech-enhanced corn seeds. On a per-share basis, the St. Louis-based company said it had a loss of 56 cents.

Activist investment fund Starboard Value LP has shaken up the leadership of another publicly traded Virginia company. The Brink's Co., a major secure transportation and cash management services company based in Richmond, said Monday that it has reached an agreement with New York-based Starboard under which three new directors have been added to the Brink's board and two current directors have retired.
