Amid Safety Fears, Feds Release Guardrail Crash Findings

The finding comes as the maker of the guardrail system, Trinity Industries, faces a federal investigation into its dealings with state and federal safety officials and is fighting a state Department of Transportation over new crash tests for the embattled guardrail system. The Federal Highway Administration and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials had created a task force to investigate crashes in which vehicles hit guardrail end terminals after it was revealed in 2012 that one of the guardrail makers, Trinity, had modified one of its end terminal models, the ET-Plus, years before and failed to notify state or federal officials as required.

THE SLUMP in car sales has sent several hire-purchase operators shifting from car loans to the low-risk refinancing market, according to Ayudhya Capital Auto Lease, or Krungsri Auto. Managing director Pairote Cheunkrut said yesterday that the competition this year was more intense because more players have promoted refinancing to offset the decline in new car loans.

ABB lowers growth outlook amid China slowdown

ABB Ltd. on Wednesday lowered its five-year growth outlook and launched a big reorganization of its business as the power and automation giant said it faced slower global growth, including in China. Zurich-based ABB, the world's largest maker of power grids, cut its annual revenue growth target to 3% to 6% between 2015 and 2020 from 4% to 7% previously.
