Pacific Gas & Electric Co. has notified 314 residents of the Parklands subdivision that it will be shutting off their electricity for about five hours July 23 to protect crews that will be working at the Richland Homes development that's going up just south of their homes.

Starwood Energy to finance Calif. electricity transmission line

Greenwich-based private investment firm Starwood Energy , in a joint venture with sustainable energy company Abengoa, won a contract by the state of California to build a 114-mile electricity transmission line between two substations. California Independent System Operator named the companies as the approved sponsor to finance, construct, own, operate and maintain the Delaney to Colorado River 500 kilovolt line.
