Video: Integral Tracking for the Hot Air Temperature Controller

2015-09-21 22:05:00| Chemical Processing

For a PID controller to perform as expected, changes in the controller output must lead to changes in the opening of one or more final control elements, which must affect the measured variable for the PID controller. Driving a final control element to either limit disrupts this sequence. This requires integral tracking, not output tracking. If the final control element has been driven fully open, control actions to increase the opening cannot be implemented, but control actions to decrease the opening can be. The opposite is true if the final control element is driven fully closed.   To access the entire video series from Cecil Smith, visit our video page. Cecil Smith is president of Cecil L. Video: Using Output Tracking for Bumpless Transfer from Manual to Automatic

2015-09-18 19:30:00| Chemical Processing

Tracking comes in two versions output tracking and integral tracking. Output tracking provides smooth transitions from manual operations to automatic operations. Integral tracking prevents reset windup. Output tracking is the subject of this video.   To access the entire video series from Cecil Smith, visit our video page. Cecil Smith is president of Cecil L.
