According to April 5 employment report by U.S. Department of Labor, construction industry unemployment fell from 15.7% in February to 14.7% in March. USA added 18,000 new construction jobs in that month, and year-over-year workforce expansion has been measured at 2.9%. Commenting, Associated Builders and Contractors Chief Economist Anirban Basu said this report "implies that interest rates will remain low, which...is good for real estate valuations and for nonresidential construction." According to Feb 1 employment report by U.S. Department of Labor, construction industry unemployment rate shot up to 16.1% in January, despite addition of 28,000 jobs. Rate marks increase from 13.5% in December 2012, but decrease from 17.7% same time last year. Year over year, construction employment has risen by 102,000 jobs, or 1.8%.
