JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities Duties Tasks The Space Debris Software Service shall actively deliver services to the Space Debris Office in all aspects of Unit and accepting testing of new and existing software Integration and verification of software services, both in development and operationally Implementing quality assurance and maintenance of the existing and future software services Data management and processing for existing and future software services. Qualifications University degree in a relevant engineering field, mathematics, or physics Required knowledge Space debris, celestial mechanics, and related data processing Testing, integration and validation of large software systems and services Software engineering aspects including agile development, from scratch development, maintenance, testing, redundancy concepts, version control Requirements engineering as well as documentation skills Quality assurance. The PCLinux and PCWindows environment, network services and protocols Webbased database frontends Shell scripting languages, Python, Fortran, and nonrelational databases Postgresql Version control systems git Issue trackers redmine. Space Debris Software Engineer

RHEA Group is currently recruiting a Space Debris Software Engineer to support the Space Debris Office SDO at our clients premises in Darmstadt, Germany. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Acting as an interface for the SDO and ESA internal and external customers visvis software issues, including but not limited to bug tracking, feature requested, roadmap planning. The major software services available at the SDO, including but not limited to ESA DRAMA, DISCOS, and both application programming API and web interfaces to the later. Software development activities, in close cooperation with the relevant teams within the SDO. Design and implement roadmaps for the software services under its quality assurance and maintenance responsibility based on feedback from the endusers and taking into account separate developments and research within the SDO. To this end, possibility to be included in further activities including but not limited to participation in technical meetings, reviews and acceptance of deliverables, followup of contractor actions, preparation of status reports and presentations, and coordination with the software development and operations team within the SDO or external when applicable. Provide user support within the domain of their activities. To fulfil the technical requirements associated with this service request, the form of the implementation part of an issue tracking system in operation within the SDO shall be taken. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree in a relevant engineering field, mathematics, or physics Skills to apply their knowledge to develop solutions to technical mathematical and dynamical and programmatic software problems in cooperation with customers and other experts Ability to define, implement, validate, test, and operate software which applies the above solutions Will to take responsibility in multidiscipline teams Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. Ability to work independently Experience with Windows and Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration Software development proficiency in Python, Fortran, and Postresql Software development experience as lead programmer as well as part of a team. Software development experience for database, API libraries, and websites. Software development experience with development cycles and version control The following skills would be highly desirable Familiarity with the ESOC environment Familiarityexperience with Space Debris engineering tasks, including user experience for DISCOS and DRAMA. Experience dealing with external interfaces Experience with AppleMac, network services and protocols, and system administration The ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, and multiple subsystems simultaneously. Software development proficiency in Perl, Java, JavaScript, C, C, and OracleSQL. Experience with interfacing with endusers of a software service.
