EPA announced nearly $1.2 million in competitive grants that will enable 40 non-profit and tribal organizations to conduct research, provide education, and develop solutions to local health and environmental issues in minority and low-income communities overburdened by harmful pollution. In addition to 36 projects receiving funding from EPA's Office of Environmental Justice, program is bolstered by the funding of 4 additional projects in Gulf Coast communities by EPA Gulf of Mexico Program.

Recently, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released EJSCREEN, an environmental justice screening and mapping tool that uses high resolution maps combined with demographic and environmental data to identify places with potentially elevated environmental burdens and vulnerable populations.

U.S. EPA has released EJSCREEN, which uses high-resolution maps combined with demographic and environmental data to identify places with potentially elevated environmental burdens and vulnerable populations. Color-coded maps, bar charts, and reports enable users to better understand areas in need of increased environmental protection, health care access, housing, infrastructure improvement, community revitalization, and climate resilience.
