A number of local and regional corporate entities and their staff will be joining employees of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank and the Barbados Cancer Society Breast Screening Programme in the annual Walk for Cure due to take place on Sunday 4th October. Many of these companies are business partners of the Bank and have pledged sums of money which will eventually be handed over to the Breast Screening unit of the BCS as Barbados joins hundreds of other CIBC FirstCaribbean employees from around the region this weekend as they walk and run to create awareness of this disease.

FDA Expands Approval Of Merck's Keytruda To Lung Cancer

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Friday approved Merck & Co Inc's immunotherapy, Keytruda, for patients with the most common form of lung cancer whose tumors produce a specific biological marker. The FDA approval for Keytruda in advanced non-small cell lung cancer is for patients whose tumors express PD-L1, a protein targeted by the drug, and includes a companion diagnostic, made by a unit of Agilent Technologies Inc, to measure those protein levels.

Authentidate Holding Corp. has partnered with AEON Clinical Laboratories to launch Cancer Detect Profile , a 38-gene cancer genetic test coupled with telehealth-based genetic counseling for 6,000 prescribing physicians throughout the country. The test is designed to identify patients with increased risk of colorectal, breast, pancreatic, ovarian, gastric, melanoma, stomach and other cancers by analyzing mutations in their DNA and RNA within a panel of 38-genes associated with cancer.
