2016-03-03 16:24:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Colt has introduced a new pledge to provide customers in 20 European cities with at least 1 Gbps. The '1Gb Always' commitment will see all existing and future customers provided with a 1Gb bearer circuit. This means that no matter what speed they start with, bandwidth can be increased as required with no upgrade costs. The initiative is being rolled out with immediate effect in 20 major cities across Europe, including London, Paris and Frankfurt. All other territories can still experience rapid bandwidth, at a lower ceiling of 600Mbps as standard, with 1Gbps available on a more selective basis.

Ericsson, Telstra test LTE-A 1Gbps via 5-carrier aggregation
2015-11-20 09:21:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Ericsson and Telstra held a demonstration of 1 Gbps capability with five carrier LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation integrated on a live mobile network. Downlink speeds in excess of 950 Mbps were achieved with a User Datagram Protocol (UDP) speed test application by aggregating 100 MHz of spectrum across Telstra's spectrum holdings. The company were also able to hit download speeds of over 843 Mbps over the internet to the speedtest.net site. In the test, downlink speeds were achieved by aggregating 100 MHz of spectrum across the 700 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz and 2600 MHz (2 x 20 MHz) bands and delivered to a Cobham Aeroflex TM500 mobile device.
