(Telecompaper) Russian mobile operator Megafon has begun commercial operation of its network under the LTE-Advanced standard in the city of Moscow. The network infrastructure is based on equipment from Huawei and the LTE Advanced Cat 6 standard, supporting speeds up to 300 Mbps. The services are currently accessible within the Sadovoye Ring, and coverage is to be expanded this year to the whole area within the Moscow Ring Motorway. Services will be launched in other major Russian cities later. Megafon is using the new brand 4G+ to promote the service.
