Altice USA residential video RGUs down 44k in 4Q 2019

Altice USA (NYSE: ATUS) has reported results for the quarter to December 31, 2019. The company had Residential Video RGU net losses of -44k in Q4 2019. Altice USA also announced that it is to acquire Service Electric Cable T.V. of New Jersey.

(Telecompaper) It has been quiet so far on the telecoms front in 2020. A number of companies turned to the debt markets, but not much else happened. We use the opportunity to take a closer look back at 2019. It has generally been a terrific year for equity investors, with the S&P 500 index up 24.8 percent for the year. Alas, not so for telecoms investors in Europe. The Telecompaper European Telecoms Services index was up just 7.5 percent, seriously trailing the S&P 500. However, for infrastructure operators 2019 was a year of rerating.
Altice Portugal to sell 49% of FTTH network to Morgan Stanley

(Telecompaper) Altice Europe's subsidiary Meo has signed an agreement with Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners to create a nationwide fibre wholesaler in Portugal. This is the first time in Europe than an incumbent telecom operator separates its fibre into a dedicated wholesale vehicle, Altice said.

(Telecompaper) Altice Europe was last week's biggest winner, up 7.0 percent on news of selling a large minority stake in its Portuguese fibre network. Intelsat was the biggest loser (-7.4%). The Telecompaper European Telecoms Services index was down 0.4 percent in week 50, underperforming the EuroStoxx 50 index which gained 1.0 percent.
