Tasks and Responsibilities Proactive planning, implementation and execution of experimentsmeasurements Analysis, evaluation, reporting and interpretation of measurement dataresults Provision of expert advice on optics, laser, detectors and photonics. Verification methods in support to ESA projects and technology RD Daytoday operation and maintenance of the laboratory, comprising general maintenance and servicing of photonics and optoelectronics measurement equipment Procurement of laboratory materials, components, equipment as appropriate for the operation of the laboratory Stock and equipment inventory tracking Maintaining laboratory logbooks. Requirements Education Master level degree in applied physics, electrical engineering or photonics. Experience level Young professional. Team spirit and positive, result oriented work attitude Good technical assessment capabilities and solid communication skills in English language verbal and in writing Motivation for continuously acquiring new skills, partially autodidactic, to adapt to a changing laboratory environment Minimum of 1 years of practical laboratory experience in the design, development and verification of optoelectronic system, including high energy lasers, vacuum technology, numerical measurement analysis and associated engineering software tools i.e. LabView, Matlab, Python Experience in designing and implementing new measurement methodssetups Good knowledge of measurement uncertainty analysis Knowledge in environmental testing of space hardware is an asset. Within this department, you will participate in instruments optical configuration definition designs that are designed and manufactured by the Optical Instrumentation Division during phases A and BCD. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Participating in the definition design activities for ongoing optical configurations studies or the creation of Earth, Observation, Navigation and Sciences TPEF management, Participating in the assessment of these configurations, in optomechanical tolerancing and in the drafting of specifications for various optical equipment or components, Working on all activities related to the design of integrated equipment for instruments such as telescopes, focal blocks, calibration, etc. Coordinating optomechanical architecture activities for these instruments, preparing the specifications for optical subassemblies, as well as ensuring their development, Preparing the assessment of instrument optical performances, as well as the associated verification plan. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Qualified engineer 5year degree or equivalent or PHD student, Knowledge of measurement methods for optical instruments, Knowledge of optical design and evaluation software such as CODE V, ASAP, ZEMAX, FRED, VIRTUAL LAB Experience using data processing and simulation tools such as MATLAB, MATHCAD, EXCEL would be a plus An advanced level of French English Knowledge of German would be a plus.
