EPA is releasing assessment for public comment on the potential for human health risk of the pesticide chlorpyrifos. Assessment shows some risks to workers who mix, load, and apply chlorpyrifos pesticide products. When used in large amounts, chlorpyrifos has potential to pose risks in limited geographic areas when drinking water from small watersheds. There were no additional risks from pesticide exposures in food or exposures to bystanders and workers from airborne chlorpyrifos.

Renewable Synthesized Iso-Paraffinic fuel has now been included in ASTM International standard D7566, Specification for Aviation Turbine Fuel Containing Synthesized Hydrocarbons. Standard has been revised to incorporate international material specifications for SIP, or low carbon aviation fuel, ensuring fuel quality equal or superior to petroleum-derived aviation turbine fuels. Primary users include fuel producers/distributors, aircraft, and fuel system/turbine engine manufacturers.

Revised ADEQ Whirlpool pollution plan says Boys and Girls Club in plume

The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality issued on Dec. 19 a revised plan for addressing pollution in and around Whirlpool's Fort Smith plant that says pollution has reached the Fort Smith Boys and Girls Club facility but does not necessarily present a direct health hazard. The revised Remedial Action Decision Document is another step in the process in which officials at ADEQ and Benton Harbor, Mich.-based based Whirlpool Corp. disagree about the extent and danger of pollution.
