Waste Management may lose recycling contract in its home town

The city of Houston, led by its mayor, has rejected an offer by Houston-based Waste Management Inc. to charge $3 million or more per year to collect residential recyclables. According to a report on the Houston Public Media website, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner has indicated the city is negotiating with other service providers to take over the collection contract when it expires in mid-March 2016.

Protesters disrupt logistics town hall meeting in San Bernardino

The meeting, held in the college's business conference center, was organized by Assemblywoman Cheryl R. Brown, D-San Bernardino, who's running for re-election, and attended by seven state Assembly members and Congresswoman Norma Torres, D-Pomona. As Redlands-based economist John Husing - a long-time advocate of the logistics industry - was speaking, a group of about 30 people began chanting outside the meeting room.
