Expect delays near Sellwood Bridge on Nov. 17 during traffic change

Drivers should expect long delays near the Sellwood Bridge on Tuesday, November 17 from 9 am until 4 pm as a contractor shifts traffic lanes for the next phase of construction where the new bridge connects with Highway 43. The new traffic stage will create space for the contractor to build the second through lane under the bridge. The traffic configuration will be in place until summer 2016.

The City of Portland Bureau of Transportation advises the traveling public that street improvements will require lane closures on NE Sandy Boulevard from NE 27th Avenue to NE 29th Avenue starting Monday, Nov. 16, through Friday, Nov. 20, from 7 a.m. through 3 p.m. each work day. On some days, work may extend until 5 p.m.

Ducks Unlimited has cut ties with a longtime field editor and columnist for the conservation group's magazine after he wrote an article critical of a former board member's legal fight over public access on his land in Montana. Don Thomas, a Lewistown, Montana, writer said Wednesday the Ducks Unlimited magazine editor who fired him on Monday told him the article published last month in the magazine Outside Bozeman upset its subject, media mogul Jim Kennedy, the chairman of Cox Enterprises.
