Samsung may launch first Tizen phone in India

Samsung Electronics Co., which faces a slowdown in emerging market smartphone sales, will release its long-delayed Tizen-powered handset in India before the end of this year, a report said Monday. Samsung's first Tizen-based device will be launched in November in India, said Tarun Malik , director of Samsung's Media Solutions Center in Southwest Asia, in an interview with Economic Times.

Alaska Communications Systems is "endangering the health and safety" of thousands of Fairbanks residents by failing to provide updated phone numbers for the city's "Enhanced 911" system, the Fairbanks North Star Borough has charged in a lawsuit. "As a result, borough citizens face an impending disaster -- a 911 call for help from someone in distress who is not able to verbally communicate," the borough charged in its Aug. 25 complaint in state court.

(Telecompaper) Bangladeshi mobile operator Grameenphone has launched the GoFox F15 Firefox phone on the local market. The handset is available for under USD 60. This marks the first joint release of Mozilla's low-cost, open web smartphones by a mobile operator in Asia. The GoFox F15 is developed by Bangladeshi mobile phone brand Symphony.
