Four-Pole Generators increase turbine efficiency.

2015-12-14 14:31:06| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today

Covering 60–85 MVA power range at voltages from 3–15 kV, 1400 frame size 4-pole synchronous generators enable high unit powers and economical genset designs. Operation below critical vibration speed area promotes reliability in start-stop mode. Size, weight, efficiency, inertia, and facilitated maintenance enable OEMs to use 4-pole technology in higher power gensets as well as increase power in hot environments where de-rating is needed.

Researchers increase efficiency of perovskite solar cells. .

2015-11-03 14:31:10| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today

Scientists at NREL have demonstrated a way to significantly increase efficiency of perovskite solar cells by reducing the amount of energy lost to heat. Theoretical limit of how much solar energy perovskite cells can convert to electricity if hot-carriers are utilized could climb from about 33% to 66%. Paper on the discovery, "Observation of a hot-phonon bottleneck in lead-iodide perovskites," was published online in the journal Nature Photonics, and will also appear in January print edition.
