Gerdau says buyout of units taking place at adequate valuation

Gerdau SA, the largest steelmaker in the Americas, said on Friday that a plan to spend 1.986 billion reais buying out four units in a broad reorganization program took place under adequate valuations and market conditions. Under the plan, Gerdau will buy the remaining stakes it does not yet own in Gerdau Acos Longos SA, Gerdau Acominas SA, Gerdau Acos Especiais SA and Gerdau America Latina Participacoes SA.

China seeks Micron buyout for $23B

China's Tsinghua Unigroup offered to buy Micron Technology for $23 billion, a move that will put the country at the forefront of semiconductors while possibly raising political issues in the United States leading up to the elections. . With $16.8 billion in revenues last year, Micron is the second largest chipmaker in the United States following Intel.
