A plan to widen Ortega Highway to four lanes on a stretch of San Juan Capistrano took a step ahead Tuesday night as the City Council voted 4-1, with Councilman Derek Reeve dissenting, to authorize a grant application with the Orange County Transportation Authority to widen the two-lane highway between Calle Entradero and the eastern city limits.

Reuters: Ontario, the largest and wealthiest Canadian province, will close two of its largest coal-fired power plants by the end of 2013, a year earlier than expected, the provincial government said on Thursday.
