Telia Norway starts offering home 5G wireless broadband, beginning in Trondheim

(Telecompaper) Telia said it has become the first operator in Norway to start offering fixed wireless access (FWA) to 5G as standard broadband for the home. The service has begun in Trondheim before being phased in to other parts of the country that have 5G reception, depending on customer interest. Pal Rune Kaalen, head of private market affairs at the operator, said the service should be attractive to customers still served via the copper network, which is gradually being dismantled.

(Telecompaper) Telia Norway has announced the launch of fixed wireless broadband, running on its 4G network and ready to upgrade to 5G before long. It offers service at 25 Mbps, 50 Mbps and 75 Mbps at a set monthly price, although Telia did not state what this was. Telia supplies a dedicated outdoor receiver, indoor Wi-Fi 6 router from Zyxel, and its own Trygg pa Nett security service.

Facebook to start Terragraph wireless broadband trials in Hungary, Malaysia

(Telecompaper) Magyar Telekom in Hungary and Telenor's Malaysian subsidiary Digi will be the first to test the Terragraph technology developed by Facebook to deliver fixed-wireless broadband services over mmWave spectrum. Facebook announced that it has completed the initial engineering validation of Terragraph, and the next phase will be to start field trials.
