Three US private equity companies and Philippine conglomerate San Miguel Corp. are among 12 firms that have submitted letters of intent to bid for the government's majority stake in United Coconut Planters Bank, a person with knowledge of the matter said. CAP IV Engagement Limited, an affiliate of Carlyle Asia Partners IV, Lone Star Funds and TPG Capital Management LP, are interested, while Japan's Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc is the only foreign bank in the race, said one source, who was not authorized to speak to the media on the matter.

Southwest Airlines adding service from Burbank to San Francisco

Southwest Airlines is announcing today that it will add three non-stop flights a day between Burbank Airport and San Francisco, officials said. The airline, which has been flying out of Burbank for 25 years, will now offer service to all three of the Bay Area's major airports.

Officials discuss role agricultural industry plays in San Juan County river pollution

Officials involved in a recent study that found significant levels of a bacteria indicating the presence of human feces in the Animas and San Juan County rivers met Monday to talk about the agriculture industry's contribution to river pollution and best management practices. It was the third and last public outreach in a series of meetings to discuss the results , and about 20 people including representatives from the New Mexico Environment Department, the county, the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer, BHP and the Southern Ute Indian Tribe attended.
