During a press conference at Government House on Tuesday, Gov. Kenneth Mapp introduced attorney Natalie Tang How as the new director of the Office of Collective Bargaining. After graduating from the University of Florida law school in 1992, Tang How began her legal career as a law clerk to Judge Raymond Finch at the Territorial Court of the Virgin Islands.

The United Auto Workers union has filed charges against Volkswagen AG, claiming the company is refusing to enter into collective bargaining for a portion of workers at its Chattanooga, Tennessee, factory, the union said on Tuesday. On Dec. 4, more than 70 percent of the 161 skilled trades workers at the VW plant voted to join the UAW.

Ballots and voting information will be mailed out on Nov. 6 to all American Airlines agents by BallotPoint, the independent third party conducting the ratification vote on the tentative agreement. The Internet and telephone vote will continue through Nov. 30, and results will be tabulated and announced on Dec. 1. CWA members at AT&T Southeast will be voting on a tentative agreement with the ratification results to be announced Friday, Dec. 4. The tentative agreement covers 28,000 workers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
