A real estate agent has been convicted and fined for trying to bribe a cemetery official for extra plots of land, in the first conviction secured by Victoria's anti-corruption body. The Sunshine Magistrate's Court heard he tried to give $5,000 to an anti-corruption operative posing as a cemetery worker to try and secure six plots of land for his family at the Williamstown Cemetery.

Former Bayport real estate agent convicted of fraud

A federal jury has convicted a former Bayport resident and real estate agent guilty of wire fraud, mail fraud and tax evasion. Bartolomea Joseph Montanari, 57, was found guilty of three federal charges Nov. 25, following a six-day trial in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis, according to the U.S. attorney's office.

November returned to the seasonal trends of real estate with an 8 percent drop in closed single-family homes in the Santa Barbara metro area, going from 76 in October to 70 in November. The median sold price decreased from $1.090 million in October to $947,500 in November, reflecting continuing strength in lower-end sales while the upper end goes on holiday.
