During a week in which small bands of protesters picketed Charter Communications headquarters in Stamford over the company's record on diversity, the company reported on Thursday a 5.6 percent increase in its customer base during 2015, as it makes its final push to becoming the second largest cable carrier in the nation via the $57 billion acquisition of Time Warner Cable. Charter lost $122 million in the fourth quarter, or $1.09 a share, compared to $48 million or 44 cents a year earlier.

According to reports , both the Federal Communications Commission and Charter Communications are being sued for $10 billion in federal court by Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios and the National Association of African-American Owned Media for "racial discrimination in contracting for television channel carriage." "President Obama and the Democratic Party have completely excluded the African-American community when it comes to economic inclusion," Allen said in a statement Wednesday.
