A vacancy has arisen for a Technical Design Authority with Airbus Defence and Space in Farnborough, UK. a The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the Companys Technical Strategy for Geospatial and EO Service provision and advise on the technical implications of strategic decisions to ensure that the Company achieves its business objectives. b The position will provide technical assurance for projects throughout their lifecycle and coordinates the strategy for hardware development and the use of all COTS and bespoke software in the organisation. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows a To be the Technical lead on related Programmes to ensure that theydeliver to a set of agreed business objectives, to the agreed requirements baseline, budget and timescales. b Accountability for software architecture and to act as the design authority for the most appropriate architectural fit, working closely with the Geospatial Solutions Architects and Infrastructure Managers for total solution definition and to ensure that the required technologies will work together. c To provide the technical design input to the Corporate Strategy in conjunction with Business, Operations, Delivery and Innovations Management Teams. d To keep all products and processes under review and introduce new technology as appropriate to ensure that best value solutions are designed and implemented. e To continually review the systems and hardware utilised by the business, identifying interdependencies that will exist within existing and proposed systems to ensure interoperability, promoting reusable core hardware software components where possible. f Develop, prepare and deliver Customer presentations workshops to demonstrate the Companys Technical Competence at both presales and programme delivery stages. g Responsible for the identification of technical business risks within the Business and the appropriate management of thesedevelopment of risk reduction strategies. h Deliver strategic technical content to proposals, bids and quotes. i Accountability for the strategic direction, design and implementation of the hosting and delivery services within the business as well as the environment in which they reside including connectivity, security, specification, design, implementation, integration and delivery. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience I Required Experience a Extensive experience in the Design, Development and Delivery of structured Data Management Solutions. b Proven track record in the solutions business commercial or government domain. II JobTechnical Knowledge a Good knowledge and experience of the geospatial domain, in the use of geospatial data and applications, including database, web and cloud technology. b Full understanding of Network Security and Disaster Recovery Systems. c Geospatial Standards OGC WMS, WFS, etc. III Qualifications Masters degree in relevant subject or equivalent experiencetraining Software Engineering, Computer Science, Network Infrastructure. IV General a Proven ability to communicate effectively to staff, management and customers, b Ability to deliver technical presentations to internal and external audiences, c Ability to work as part of a team as well as working in an independent discipline. V IT SkillsTools a Application deployment knowledge, b WAN LAN technical expertise, c Hardware knowledge, d Microsoft UNIX technology, e Storage solutions, f Security and connectivity design i.e. remote access model. VI Desirable experience requirements Familiarity with a Web technologies, b INSPIRE, c SDKs, d Development Tools Open Source or COTS, e FME, f Db Oracle, Postgres, j UML.
