Hynix reveals world's first 128GB DDR4 memory module

SK Hynix on Monday announced it has developed the world's first 128GB DDR4 memory module, twice the capacity of the company's current 64GB module. The new memory module, which is also being touted as the world's highest density module, is based on 8Gbit DDR4 chips created with 20nm process lithography.

DRAM shortage from Hynix fire to hit PCs hardest

The fire damage suffered by SK Hynix's Wuxi, China DRAM fabrication (FAB) plant last week, along with the resulting power outage and clean room contamination, is expected to lead to a number of problems in the short term for DRAM supply, a new report finds. Most acutely, the fire that blazed for almost two hours appears to have damaged equipment used for making PC DRAM, which has sent memory prices skyrocketing more than 27 percent over the past week.
