Washington Post: As more and more carbon dioxide enters the atmosphere, the ocean is acidifying too quickly for sharks to keep up. For at least one species, the cost could be the vital sense of smell. Without its ability to detect the odors of prey, the smooth dogfish could be left high and dry. And chances are that the smooth dogfish isn't the only marine life that will see this effect. Heard Off the Street: Burger King deal will leave Canadians with bad taste

Fast food purveyor Burger King Worldwide's plans to acquire Canadian coffee brewer Tim Hortons for $11 billion has raised quite a stink this side of the border, where some U.S. lawgivers are up in arms over the willingness of yet another company to renounce its U.S. citizenship for tax purposes. Miami-based Burger King will move its headquarters to suburban Toronto as part of the transaction, joining the exodus of companies relocating to another Promised Land to avoid U.S. tax rates.
