This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESTEC, Noordwijk The Netherlands. DUTIES The postholder will report to the Head of the Dependability and Safety Assurance Section. The Section is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of Dependability Reliability, Availability and Maintainability and Safety Assurance expertise and standards, and for providing support to European Space Agency projects in its specific domains of competence. Specific responsibilities and tasks include implementing general programmatic and technical dependability and safety assurance requirements in relation to ESA standards and specifications establishing projectspecific programmatic and technical dependability and safety assurance requirements within the framework of the ESA Product Assurance baseline supporting projects in the evaluation of contractors plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed for the execution of the dependability and safety assurance programmes supporting projects in the monitoring of the performance of contractors dependability and safety assurance programmes to assure their compliance with the applicable requirements, and directing and controlling risk reduction processes and any necessary preventive and corrective actions evaluating dependability and safety analyses, technical notes, technical risk assessments, risk reduction processes and the associated preventive or corrective actions defining and controlling the implementation of the applicable dependability and safetyrelated acceptance requirements including risk acceptance criteria, and participating in project reviews to assess compliance with the applicable requirements and to formulate acceptreject recommendations evaluating proposed concepts, designs and operations for compliance with defined dependability and safety requirements liaising with software product assurance and software engineering on related matters initiating research and study activities in the fields of dependability and safety requirements, techniques, tools and integrated engineering process methodologies and risk management methods contributing to the dissemination of the results of activities performed and to knowledge transfer across the Agency. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or science, with substantial experience in dependability and safety engineering and assurance activities within aerospace or comparable projects. Experience in the dependability assessment of softwareintensive systems or products, andor in the assessment of softwareintensive safetycritical systems or products would be an advantage. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills. They should be able to work effectively, autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. Applicants should also have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to problemsolving and an interest in innovative technologies. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. The new iPod touch with an A8 processor and upgraded 8-megapixel rear camera just launched this morning, but TechCrunch 's Matthew Panzarino already has one in hand and has run some benchmarks on the device. According to early testing, the A8 processor in the new iPod touch appears to be running at 1.10GHz per core, which is slower than the 1.39GHz per core the iPhone 6 runs at , presumably to manage battery life.
