Overview As part of the Small Satellite Platform Unit in the Projects Office, the holder of the position will Support Avionics and space electronics procurements from early definition phase through to qualification phase Maintain interfaces with the relevant Contractors and subsystems responsible industryresearch institute for the assigned projects as well as with the specific support at ESA PA, EEE Parts expert, Support system reviews of the assigned projects as required Follow up technical issues arising on the assigned projects and participate in risk reduction activities. Specific qualification requirements A University degree MSc from a recognised Institution of secondary studies or equivalent qualification in Engineering preferably space related or physics. Expert knowledge of space electronics in particular avionics and communication subsystems through the complete lifecycle including design, development and AIVqualification. Knowledge of experience in the practical application of engineeringquality standards would be an asset. Good verbal and written communications. Rigor, commitment and reliability in the execution of the assigned tasks. Proactive attitude to solving problems, identify priority actions and to handle high workload. Fluency in English both written and spoken is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line withESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included. Aurora assist with relocation both with support and financially. Aurora contributes to a company pension scheme. Providing technical support to ESA projects in the domain of Field Programmable Gate Array FPGA used in payloads and platforms of ESA missions of any ESA programme Navigation, Science, Earth Observation, Telecommunications, Human Space Exploration or Technology, you will have the following tasks Supervision of the endtoend development of new FPGAs throughout all thedevelopment phases specification, architectural design, detailed design, place androute, programming and device tests Critical review of the technical documentation, design files, hardware test platforms andsoftware used during the different phases of the FPGA developments Providing technical feedback and advice to ESA and industry mission teams to helpachieve successful and ontimeonbudget new FPGA developments and to solveproblems related to already developed FPGAs Leading andor providing support to research internal in ESTEC MicroelectronicsLaboratory andor external with companies contracted by ESA activities in thedomain of FPGAs devices and their tool ecosystems for use in space environment. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience A university degree in Electronics Engineering or Physics, specialized in Microelectronicswith severals years of working experience Experience in Design and test of digital FPGAs specifications, block design, top level integration, design for test, pre and post layout simulation and timing analysis, gatessynthesis, support during layout, prototype test and in system validation, withproficiency in HDL VHDL, Verilog and SystemC Proficiency in VLSI IC Design CAD tools such as Synopsys, CADENCE, Mentor, Mathlabandor Simulink Knowledge of FPGA HW and SW of several vendors such as Xilinx, Microchip former Microsemi, former ACTEL, NanoXplore, Altera andor Atmel Experience in Preparing FPGA testbenches, for functional validation and electricalcharacterization, using signal generators, oscilloscopes and signal analyzers Basic system administration knowledge in UNIX and Windows for IC Design CAD tools.
