NEMA welcomed passage by U.S. Senate of 2 bills containing trade-related benefits for electrical equipment and medical imaging manufacturers. Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015 authorizes and reforms trade facilitation functions of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, while Trade Preferences Extension Act of 2015 renews Generalized System of Preferences program, which allows for duty-free importation of industrial inputs from less developed countries.

ASC applauds passage of bipartisan TSCA reform bill.

ASC congratulates Senate Environment and Public Works Committee for passage of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act (S.697). Approval of this bipartisan reform to the broken Toxic Substances Control Act is a major step forward in getting EPA to evaluate thousands of chemicals that have not been addressed since law’s passage in 1976. ASC will continue to reach out to other Senate offices to build support for full Senate vote later this year.

CDC: Uninsured drop by 11M since passage of Obama's law

The number of uninsured U.S. residents fell by more than 11 million since President Barack Obama signed the health care overhaul five years ago, according to a pair of reports Tuesday from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Although that still would leave about 37 million people uninsured, it's the lowest level measured in more than 15 years.
