Brazilian and U.S. health workers from the United States' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention talk with a resident Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, as they search for mothers and infants to recruit for a study aimed at determining whether the Zika virus is causing babies to be born with a birth defect affecting the brain in Joao Pessoa, Brazil. Their goal is to persuade about 100 mothers of infants recently born with the defect as well to enroll in the study.

Police raid Brazil steelmaker Gerdau, issue CEO arrest warrant

Federal police said Gerdau, Brazil's largest steelmaker, is suspected of evading 1.5 billion reais in back taxes. A police spokesman said they had a warrant for the arrest of Andre Gerdau Johannpeter, the company's chief executive, for questioning.

Feb 24 The long-awaited first liquefied natural gas exports from the lower 48 U.S. states will leave Cheniere Energy Inc's Sabine Pass export terminal in Louisiana on Wednesday, a senior company executive said. That first cargo of about 3 billion cubic feet of gas will go to Petrobras in Brazil, Meg Gentle, executive vice-president of marketing at Cheniere said on the sidelines of the CERAWeek conference in Houston.
