TV antenna usage in US broadband households up 25% in 2019

According to Parks Associates, 25% of US broadband households use an antenna to watch local broadcast TV channels, up from 15% in 2018. Roughly half of antenna users do not subscribe to any pay-TV services, either traditional or vMVPD.

Job description For our customer, the European Space Agency ESA, we are seeking an experienced Antenna Engineer to work at ESAs ESTEC site in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Responsibilities You will be assigned to ESAESTECs Antenna Submm Waves Section within the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management DTEC. Within the section activities cover two main areas Preparing and monitoring Research and Development activities in the field of spaceborne Antennas. A diverse range of tasks are carried out within the Antenna and SubMillimetre wave engineering domain, encompassing hardware, software and system aspects. Provide antenna technical support to ESA projects. This includes inhouse design and tradeoff studies to support both developments and reviews. Tasks will require the analysis and design of reflector antennas and arrays and the calculation of the interference effects between antennas and the spacecraft structure. The specific tasks you will be required to perform are Providing expert technical support and consultancy to ESA projects, programmes and general studies in the field of space antenna systems, submillimeter wave instruments and associated technologies throughout all project phases Participating in project reviews and performing inhouse design and tradeoffs to support projectspecific technology developments Identifying critical development problems and assisting in their resolution Antenna measurement laboratory activities as required Defining, initiating and monitoring RD activities covering both long and shortterm needs Monitoring applicable scientific and technological trends and maintaining stateoftheart expertise. This is a fulltime position located at ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The requested start of work is July 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. Qualifications Competencies The successful candidate shall have A Masters degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. At least 4 years of relevant industrial experience in antennas. Specific industrial experience in antenna architectures and technologies as applied to the space environment is a major asset. Knowledge of spacespecific antenna constraints at RF, mechanical, thermal, and environmental levels gained from the handling of spacecraft Flight Model development or RD development at high Technology Readiness Level TRL Knowledge of antenna industrial manufacturing, testing processes, architecture and technologies Expertise in using antenna modelling tools such as GRASP8, POS4, CHAMP, HFSS. Desirable Prior experience with ESA programmes and processes following ECSS standards would be useful Awareness of the wider space systems engineering domains and processes would be useful Soft skills Proactive attitude to solving problems Good organisational skills and capable of supporting multiple tasks in parallel.
