Junior Development Engineer Space Physics Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of a multicultural team, you will have the following responsibilities Define, implement, execute and post process space physics analyses to support space projects Perform Space Physics analyses, including the modelling of the space environment and evaluation of its impacts on the spacecraft Analysis of radiation and its received effects, contamination by molecular outgassing, impact analysis of thruster plumes, micrometeoroids, space debris, and atomic oxygen Perform the detailed daytoday space physics analysis tasks supporting satellite design and development. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in Mathematics, Physics or Engineering Previous work experience in the space industry, and especially in energetic particle radiation materials surface science plasma physics solid state physics physics of electronic components Knowledge for example in Python or VBA is desired Knowledge of software tools for example in System ESABASE2 is desired General knowledge in numerical modeling and simulation is an asset Ability to work independently, structured and goaloriented in order to reach targets in a timely manner Willingness to work in a multicultural team Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of the German language is an advantage. Development Engineer for Space Qualified Electronics Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a leading developer of laser communication systems located west of Munich. Their systems are used in connection with air platforms, such as unmanned aircraft, helicopters, and stratospheric platforms and, increasingly, for space applications. Laser communication, providing a data rate of about 1 GBitsec, is an innovative technology with carrying capacity superior to wireless systems. Potential application is the direct transfer of high resolution payload data to the ground as well as the construction of backbone networks between air platforms. The successful candidate is likely to have circa 10 years experience developing spacequalified electronics, especially in the area of highfrequency data electronics memory, interfaces, coding modules, computer systems. A central aspect is in addition to the radiation resistance LEOGEO orbit and the design of high reliability, redundant systems. He will autonomously execute a broad range of tasks related to his position. Develop space qualified electronics, particularly in the area of highfrequency data electronics memory, interfaces, coding modules, computer FPGA systems as well as sensor actuator drivers Procurement of EEE components, qualification of COTS components, direct discussions with manufacturers suppliers aerospace qualified components Contributions to development trade off studies aimed, e.g. at cost reduction, together with the development team Monitoring of system electronics throughout the entire life cycle. Our client is a new joint venture between two large European space companies. Using their long heritage in the space industry, they are developing the nextgeneration European launchers and manned space vehicles. They have several offices in Germany and France, those in Germany are located in Bremen and Munich. Currently they are heavily involved in the development of Europes most advanced launcher and looking for a Fatigue Damage Tolerance Engineer with experience on complex space structures. Tasks and Responsibilities Damage growth analysis under repeated and continuing burden Fatigue analysis, fatigue strength analysis Ensure the structural integrity, creation of Fracture Control Plans and monitoring the implementation Definition and determine load spectra from measurements Determine local stresses with hand calculations andor finite elements method FEM for critical components Planning, Maintenance and evaluating damage tolerance and fatigue tests Create test plans and specifications Support the design in terms of fracture mechanics criteria Proper selection of inspection methods NDI Rate the material properties depending on the environment, materials technology and manufacturing process Contributions for specifying interface, quality and production requirements for customizable subsystem design Support of complex component and subsystem developments under predetermined, organizational and economic standards, and from budget, timeframe and overall architecture perspectives Technical support of the project team and the program head Adjusting existing subsystems and components according to technical specifications or customized requirements Optimizing subsystems based on systematic vulnerability analysis Contributions to external documentation of the results, as damage tolerance reports, load spectra documentation, fracture item lists, production documents and test documents. Requirements A degree in Mechanical engineering or Aerospace Engineering At least 2 years of work experience in FDT in the aerospace industry At least 2 years of experience with material properties for complex space stuctures Strong knowledge of Matlab The ability to meet objectives on schedule and to achieve and coordinate workflows efficiently Strong communication skills to work with different counterparts at all corporate levels Assertive and persuasive personality Fluency in English, both verbal and in writing German language skills are an advantage.
