Job Description For our client, the European Space Agency ESA, we are looking for a Space Resource Engineer for their location in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, to join their Strategy and Innovation Team. Tasks and Responsibilities Monitoring the progress achieved in delivering the ESA Space Resource Strategy as well as for regularly updating it, taking into account the evolving international and European context and stakeholder community inputs Definition and implementation of related ESA funded groundbased research and supporting the establishment and operations of the European Innovation Centre for Space Resources Implementing activities and assigned studies aimed at integrating space resources into future space exploration mission architectures and supporting the identification of related cooperation opportunities with European institutions and international Partners Analysing the space resources value chain and economic impacts as well as identifying opportunities for engaging new organisations in ground and spacebased research and development activities. This includes the identification and assessment of potential commercial applications derived from Space Resources related investments in research and development Establishing and managing partnerships with European and international organisations aimed at advancing the challengedriven Space Resources Strategy Leading the definition and implementation of stakeholder community building and engagement actions Identifying knowledge gaps and critical technologies for extraction and mining of Space resources and establishing and maintaining an overall technology maturation plan Establishing and implementing a comprehensive approach for managing Space Resources related knowledge Monitoring the international and European policy and legal framework for Space Resources and assessing implications on ESA activities. Requirements PhD or Msc Engineering andor science, from a recognised Institution. An additional Master in Business and Administration is considered an asset It is needed a 5 year experience in working on Space Resources related research and development and as well as a proven trackrecord of successfully managing innovation projects and initiatives and establishing strategic partnerships In depth knowledge of space resources related research and development Knowledge of space system engineering Multidisciplinary knowledge of area of responsibility Knowledge of innovation processes and tools Knowledge of the global space exploration plans and programmes Driving performance Developing and motivating people Fostering cooperation and effective team working Results orientation Systems and broader business thinking Innovation and creativity Relationship management Teamwork Communication. As Space System Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work sidebyside with the security analysts and consultants in order to achieve spacespecific security objectives. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Support cyber security activities related to space systems Support risk assessment process in cooperation with the risk analyst Identify main business process at the different levels space segment, FOS Perform asset modelling, where assets include physical items and information Define main malfunctions Identify threat and vulnerabilities Fulfil the security audit Support in the identification and definition of security measures and controls for space systems Definition of security requirements for satellite systems, subsystems, components Preparation of satellite security verification and validation plans and support to the related activities Preparation of security operations procedures Secops for space systems Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have at least a MSc in Engineering computer, telecommunications, space, electronic, remote sensing. You have at least 3 years of experience in the satellite system engineering field. You have a good understanding of a satellite system design and components. You have a good understanding of satellite operations. You have some background knowledge in ICT security, preferably risk assessment. You are highly motivated to work in the cyber security for the space sector. You have excellent communication and presentation skills. You possess excellent analytical skills. You have high standard of document drafting. You are able to work effectively both within a small team and autonomously. You are willing to travel across Europe.
