Archangel Lightworks is a startup specialised in space laser communications based in Harwell Space Campus, Oxfordshire. Founded in mid2017, we have secured longterm funding and successfully demonstrated several novel prototypes related to laser transmission and efficient perpendicular solar concentration. Our mission is to make 10x more data download possible to meet the demand from the growing satellites market, especially smallsats, delivering more data from the earth orbit to the ground at higher speed. Role Responsibilities We are looking for a reliable and experienced Aerospace Project Manager with technical leadership skills to ensure consistent and highly satisfactory project delivery to augment our rapidly growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing tracking realistic project plans in a fast paced, startup environment. Specific job responsibilities include but not limited to Managing all project deliverables to milestones, budget and resource. Ensuring work packages converge throughout the project working closely with a multidisciplinary team of varying experience levels. Managing risk throughout a multiyear project to ensure delivery and successful project outcome. Managing ESA European Space Agency interface, including project reporting, verbal and written communications. Supporting customer interactions for winning new work. Develop and mentor junior engineers in their project leadership skills and assist them in identifying and controlling risks to the projects progress. Review and update internal management and project reporting process, have significant influence on establishing new systems. Required skillsexperience Must have Project Management experience from project definition to product deliverydemonstration. Familiarity with European Space Agency reporting and projectrelated processes. Experience with assessing and managing risks in aerospace projects. Have exceptional communication skills, both written and spoken. Exceptional presentation and customersupplier relationship management skills. Have at least a BSc degree in a science subject. Proficient English, positive attitude, selfdriven and interested in working in a startup environment Independent, quick learner, can structure and show initiatives to thoroughly evaluate and solve problems from different angles, proactively push progress forward Desirable additional skillsexperience Experience with different space communication architectures, working on space communion projects. Experience managing, participating in drone test campaigns flying payload and platform Experience managing Cubesat development projects. Experience obtaining Airspace clearance and interacting with aviation authorities from various countries. International logistics management experience for both personal and hardware. Familiarity with ESA quality procedures. Strong commercial, industry experience. Remuneration You will be remunerated competitively depending on your experience and skills. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES We are passionate about innovation and driven to find new concepts for space laser communications. We are looking for an innovative, ambitious and experienced 15 years talent with a strong background in a junior Avionics Electronics Engineer and technical leadership to drive this forward and augment our rapidly growing team. We are a small company who like to do big impactful things and we are seeking someone who shares that mindset. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing engineering expertise in the area of design, development and test of integrated avionics to support the testing of our airborne payloads. Specific job responsibilities include but not limited to Design and development and operation of avionics subsystems for an unmanned aerial platform to meet requirements and meet local regulations. Design and development of ground station equipment power, mission planning, TCTM interfaces to enable safe and reliable operation of airborne platform. Research and select components, interface and managing subcontractors and suppliers as required. REQUIREMENTS Required skillsexperience Experience using and modifying COTS autopilot systems for aircraft. Experience with high precision attitude sensors GNSSINS sensors etc. Programming experience in MATLAB, C, Python, other. Desirable additional skillsexperience Experience of control systems, navigation systems, Solidworks, mechanics of flight, composites material, flow modelling, structural design, fast prototyping, and broader aerospace. Development of engineering user interfaces for testprototyping. Experience operating unmanned aerial vehicles and operating ground station equipment. We are seeking an ambitious and experienced talent with a strong background in Assembly, Integration Test or Verification AITAIV Engineering and technical leadership to join our rapidly growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the proper definition and implementation of the Assembly, Integration and Test activities at all levels, including definition of test documentation. Specific job responsibilities include but not limited to Definition of tests of system performance functions ownership of Assembly, Manufacturing, Integration Plans, Test Specifications, Test Procedures, Test Results and participation in formal reviews. Procurement, development and maintenance of GCS equipment for payload and airborne platform, including supplier management. Support the definition and execution of payload demonstration campaigns including site selection, on site assembly, integration, calibration and test. External manufacturing processes and services definition. Equipment and facilities definition and allocation. Supplier identification, selection, quotation requests, parts and materials procurements, parts reception and inspection, long lead time item LLI procurement. Required skillsexperience Substantial experience 25 years in system testing and payloads functional tests definition, procurement, assembly, execution, analysis. AITAIV experience with optical systemspayloads, ideally lab experience with nonvisible light sources. Practical experience working in AIT within the space industry, ideally on Cubesats. Good knowledge of GSE operations and infrastructure. Educated to degree level or equivalent in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience Desirable additional skillsexperience Experience working in an optical lab, ideally with IR lasers. Airborne payload AIT experience, particularly for HAPS or other autonomous platforms. Knowledge of ECSS standards in system engineering, testing and verification. Experience with MATLAB, Python, CC Soldering to Space industry standards Certification would be a plus Experience working on Cubesat projects, UAV, HAPS projects. Position Reference 121 RHEA Group is currently recruiting a Software Engineer to support our Ground Segment Solutions and MOIS team in both RHEA Group and ESOC premises in Darmstadt, Germany. RHEA Groups MOIS product is an integrated set of software tools for spacecraft test and mission operation procedure preparation and execution. It is used by ESA on all current and upcoming missions and is also provided as a commercial product to the space industry.. The software is used for more than 80 satellites. The Ground Segment Solutions team also provides developments in the area of satellite ground segment and operations for different customers in the space industry. Tasks and Activities As a Software Development and Support Engineer, your envisaged tasks and activities include Software development activities for applications and tools in the frame of RHEAs space projects. Providing high quality technical user support to various spacecraft project and mission teams at ESA ESOC. Taking ownership of technical issues, and working closely with the Development Team to resolve more advanced issues where necessary Implementing missionspecific enhancements to the Rheas software products. Ensuring timely bug fixes and communication to customers such as ESA. Developing new capabilities and functionalities for the evolution of RHEAs software products. You will be working closely with Rheas Development Team in Darmstadt on a number of major software enhancements that aim to widen the scope of our Software products and integrate the latest technologies. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree in Software Engineering or equivalent. At least 2 years of demonstrated experience in software engineering more specifically, requirements analysis, system analysis and design and development, database SQL and XML design, web services, user interface design. Experience in technical document writing notably, user requirements, design documentation, and test documentation. Strong knowledge of objectoriented and serviceoriented design techniques. Required experience using JAVA VB6 Eclipse MS Windows environment registry, COM, etc. Software Configuration Management SCM systems e.g. SubVersion, Mercuria and Git Desired experience using MS Office and MS Office development macros, interop XML, WSDL Linux Software product support and maintenance experience. A clientoriented, dynamic and proactive attitude and a willingness to provide user interaction and support. Excellent communications skills, with very good written and spoken English.
