Quality Product Assurance Manager

This role is a member of both Quality Management Department QMD and Engineering Support Unit ESU, reporting hierarchically to the Director of Quality, the ESU Manager and the Country Manager. At local level, heshe is responsible for supporting the implementation, deployment, maintenance and continual improvement of the Corporate Management System CMS locally, in coordination with the QMD and the Director of Quality. After the implantation of the CMS and ISO certification, the effort will be focus on project support to PACM activities, in coordination with the ESU Manager, providing support to local projects regarding quality assessment both products and processes and configuration management of project products and deliveries. Main Duties At the beginning first year, major duties of the Local Quality Managerwill be related to the overall deployment of the Corporate Management System CMS at the local site until ISO 90012015 certification, and will include the following activities Delivery of local internal CMS training programmes on the CMS processes, methods and procedures, according to CMMI best practices and ISO 9001 requirements. Provide support and consultancy to local staff,solving requests and managing improvements suggestions and change proposals to the CMS. Support the maintenance and continual improvement of the CMS documentation. Local organisation, conducting and reporting of internal quality audits. Monitoring and control of the quality objectives and key processes indicators. Preparation of inputs for the local Management Review MR meetings and drafting of the MR minutes of meeting. Attendance to Quality Steering Committee meetings. Definition and followup of corrective actions coming from audits, MRs, metrics and assessment of their effectiveness. Gather, followup and reporting of customers satisfaction feedback. Review of suppliers performance assessments and status. Support thirdparty certification and surveillance audits. And other potential external assessments. Keep the Director of Quality duly appraised of relevant quality matters at local level, and reporting local suggestions and improvement proposals. After CMS deployment and ISO 9001 certification of the local site, the effort will focus on PACM activities for supporting projects, including the following activities q Verification of project deliverables SW and documentation. Assessment of project management and development processes followup of CMS fulfilment by the project Support to management and control of project issues such as actions, risks, bugs, problems, changes... Preparation of specific PACM documentation PA CM Plans, progress reports, metrics, RAMS analysis, Configuration ManagementSW and documentation. Interface with the clientssubcontractors regarding PACM activities. Collaboration in proposals with specific contribution about PACM topics. Education University degreein computer engineering or other technicalscientific discipline but with good knowledge of software engineering. Postgraduate studies or master on quality management will be an asset. Professional Experience A minimum of three years of professional experienceholding comparable responsibilities in the fields of quality assurance and management systems with a background in software engineering companies. Experience in the assessment of software quality and management engineering processes, and software development will be a big asset. Technical Requirements Extensive Knowledge in software engineering and development. Extensive knowledge and practice with the following standards ISO 9001, CMMI. Experience in creating, implementing, operating, auditing, certifying and maintaining quality management systems based on wellestablished international standards ISO 9001, CMMI. Knowledge of SW engineering lifecycles. Extensive knowledge of SW development standards, in particular within the space industry e.g. ECSSseries and Galileo SW Standards. Very good writing skills in producing technicalrelated documentation such as quality procedures, work instructions, etc. Very fluent documentation management skills, mastering the MS office suite word, excel and power point. Language Skills Must be able to communicate effectively with very strong verbal and written skills in both local language and English Spanish desirable. Personal Skills Strong sense of ownership, commitment to service excellence and responsibility. Selfmotivation, positive attitude, determination and perseverance. Systematic, perfectionist and attention to details. Good interpersonal capabilities and a proven ability to apply these to the interactions with other managers and mates. Leadership skills, competence to successfully coordinate teams, and ability to motivate the efforts of the local staff to accomplish goals. Good analytical and problemsolving skills and the ability to understand and synthesise complex issues. Responsible for coping with the work in time and with good quality. Good management of stress situations. Autonomous with a minimum supervision Flexible to changes in the technologies, environments and teams.

DUTIES The postholder will report to the Head of the Software Product Assurance SPA Section. The Section is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of SPA expertise and standards and for providing support to projects of the European Space Agency in the area of software product assurance. Specific responsibilities and tasks will include preparing and implementing general programmatic and technical SPA requirements in relation to Agency standards and specifications establishing projectspecific programmatic and technical SPA requirements based on the ESA product assurance baseline supporting projects in the evaluation of contractors plans, technical specifications, and efforts proposed for the execution of SPA programmes supporting projects in the monitoring of the performance of the contractors SPA programmes to ensure their compliance with the SPA requirements established for the projects evaluating proposed concepts, designs, and operations for compliance with defined SPA requirements initiating and executing research and study activities in the fields of SPA requirements, techniques, methodologies and tools performing audits of contractors and their inhouse standards for compliance with ESA requirements and assessing the maturity of contractors software processes liaising with software engineering specialists on related matters contributing to dissemination of the results of the activities performed and the transfer of knowledge across the Agency. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in computer science, mathematics or software engineering and experience in at least three of the following areas software product assurance in critical realtime applications, software engineering, software configuration management, dependability assessment of software intensive systems, computeraided software development and maintenance, maturity assessment and auditing. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills. They should have the ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. In addition, applicants should have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest in innovative technologies. A vacancy for a Principal Product Assurance Engineer Mechanisms has arisen within the Mechanisms and Cryogenic Coolers Group of Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. Spacecraft Mechanisms are Single Point Failures and, as such, are designed, manufactured and tested to the most rigorous standards. As the Principal Product Assurance Engineer in the Mechanisms Group you will be responsible for ensuring that our exacting quality requirements both from Airbus and its Customers are implemented and maintained at all levels of the product lifecycle, from parts and subassembly procurement through to final equipment delivery. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include The Principal PA Engineer will either prepare, chair and run, or will actively participate and contribute to all levels of Gate review conducted on the mechanisms and the procured subassemblies, whether this be from the initial design phase for new product development, e.g. PDR, CDR or for generic equipment repeat builds, EQSR, MRR, MPCB, MIP, TRR, TRB, DRB. You will be responsible for the management, control, and disposition of all NonConformances in accordance with Airbus Procedures and Systems and any specific customer requirements including first and second closure, lessons learnt, and risk analysis. Working as part of a small dedicated equipment team with the Product Manager, Responsible Engineer, and other supporting disciplines, you will possess excellent communication and facilitation skills which enable you to interface at all levels, internally within Airbus Defence and Space nationally and internationally and with internal and external suppliers and customers. The Principal PA Engineer will also be responsible for the day to day supervision and guidance of the PA team within the Mechanisms Group, and for supporting the Mechanisms Group Head as part of the first line team. On a monthly basis you will produce a quality report and a nonconformance analysis report. You will monitor or produce metrics as deemed relevant or necessary, and will participate in the monthly business reviews. Whilst actively supporting the production and supply of Spacecraft Mechanisms within a small dedicated team, the Principal PA Engineer must have the confidence and strength of character to always put Quality First. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree in a related Engineering discipline Electrical or Mechanical.
