Cargill to shutter Missouri plant, move work to Nebraska, Texas

Agricultural conglomerate Cargill Inc said on Friday it will shutter its turkey and cooked meats processing plant in Springfield, Mo., and move the operations to Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Waco, Texas. Cargill - one of the largest turkey producers and processors in the United States - is trying to move the work closer to where the raw materials are located.

Patriot Coal transfers headquarters from Missouri to W.Va.

The company says in a news release that its operations office in Scott Depot became the company's headquarters effective Jan. 1. Patriot Coal says the move will reduce administrative costs and put the headquarters closer to its mining operations and customers.

Safety Of Guardrails Questioned by Kansas, Missouri

Missouri and Kansas transportation officials have suspended installations of a guardrail system after concerns that parts of the guardrails break off on impact and run through vehicles, causing injuries to drivers and passengers. The two states are among 40 that suspended use of the ET-Plus guardrail system over safety concerns and in response to lawsuits filed after collisions with the guardrails, The Kansas City Star reported.
