House prices 'see 2012 pick-up'

House prices in England and Wales rose by 1.7% in 2012 - driven by rising values in London, the Land Registry says.

UK house prices fell by 0.3% in 2012 and are likely to remain at the same level by the end of 2013, the Halifax says.

UK house prices fell by 1% on average last year, the Nationwide says, with a similar outlook predicted for 2013.
