As a firm already capable of producing 8.8 million tons worth of petrochemical products per year, Thailand's PTT Global Chemical may increase annual capacity by 1 million tons if it proceeds to crack ethane at the site now home to FirstEnergy's R.E. Burger plant in Belmont County. PTT Global and its Japanese partner, Marubeni Corp., on Wednesday joined Ohio and Belmont County officials to confirm intentions to build a $5 billion ethane cracker.
