Guru John Hussman , the president and principal shareholder of Hussman Strategic Advisors, added three stakes to his portfolio in the first quarter that were large enough to qualify for spots in his top 20 holdings by volume. Two of those stakes are in the Retail - Apparel and Specialty sector, and one - Staples - was big enough to land in Hussman's top 10. Hussman bought 400,000 shares of Staples, a Massachusetts-based office supply chain store, for an average price of $16.79 per share.

The Milwaukee-based Rockwell Automation reports a 14 percent increase in its latest quarterly profits, despite a drop in sales for its industrial automated products. Rockwell said Thursday its net income was $206 million from January through March.

Baidu Q1 revenues jump 34%, net profit down 3.4%

(Telecompaper) Chinese internet search provider Baidu saw its first-quarter total revenues increase by 34 percent year-on-year to CNY 12.72 billion. Mobile revenue represented 50 percent of total revenue for the first quarter of 2015, up from 42 percent in the fourth quarter of 2014. Net income amounted to CNY 2.44 billion (approximately USD 395.1 million), which represents a 3.4 percent decrease from the corresponding period in 2014.
