(Telecompaper) Qualcomm has introduced a new tier of its Snapdragon smartphone processors targeting the high-end market. The new Snapdragon 700 series offers features and performance previously only available in the premium Snapdragon 800 series, for the growing number of phones looking to add features such as on-device AI and advanced cameras. Qualcomm expects to ship commercial samples of the new processors in the first half of this year.

Samsung profit jumps in Q3, boosted by strength at chips, high-end phones

(Telecompaper) The memory business again showed the strongest growth, with sales rising 54 percent to KRW 17.94 trillion. Semiconductor sales advanced 42 percent to KRW 21.11 trillion. Samsung said it benefited from good market conditions, driven by demand for mobile and data centre applications. The supportive market environment is expected to continue into 2018.
