MetroCard 'coding problem' holding up some riders

Long Island Rail Road riders holding monthly tickets combined with unlimited-ride MetroCards were in for a surprise Monday: Their cards didn't work at subway turnstiles. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said the issue "appears to be a coding problem" with the cards issued to both LIRR and Metro-North riders for December.

N.Y. Subway Riders Can Now Shop on Amazon While Underground

Earlier this year, design firm Control Group partnered with New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority to roll out large digital kiosks underground that display maps of the city's transit systems . Today, Amazon is the first advertiser to use those kiosks as digital pop-up stores to drive sales of holiday gifts.

With the WTC Transit Hub still a year from completion, the state Metropolitan Transportation Authority opened its own $1.4 billion extravaganza, called Fulton Center.

Weekend closures in store for Long Beach Metro Blue Line riders

LONG BEACH >> Just when Metro Blue Line commuters finally took back their downtown Long Beach stops after a renovation project shut them down for a month, there's a new series of closures coming their way. For the next four weekends starting Friday, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority will close the four stations that make up the downtown Long Beach loop.

Renovations Taking a Little Longer for Riders at Two Queens Stations
