Ryanair to demand details of IAG's plans for Aer Lingus

Ryanair wants details of British Airways owner IAG's plans for Aer Lingus , including possible remedies to competition concerns, before it decides whether to accept IAG's offer for its 30 percent stake, its chief executive said on Tuesday. International Airlines Group's 1.36 billion-euro bid for Ireland's former national flag carrier already has the backing of the Aer Lingus board and Ryanair has also urged the government, which holds a 25 percent stake, to accept the offer.

Ireland's Labour Party softens opposition to Aer Lingus sale

A senior member of Ireland's junior coalition party on Saturday said opposition to the sale of the state's 25 percent stake in Aer Lingus had softened in recent weeks and the party was likely to ultimately agree to the deal. Aer Lingus' board last month recommended that Ireland back a 1.36 billion euro bid for the airline from British Airways' owner International Consolidated Airlines Group , but the deal has stalled due to political opposition spearheaded by the centre-left Labour Party.

Aer Lingus dives into annual net loss

Irish airline and takeover target Aer Lingus sank into a net loss in 2014 on the back of one-off pension and staff restructuring costs, it said Tuesday. Losses after taxation stood at 95.8 million euros last year, the carrier revealed in a results statement.

Aer Lingus sale: Boss says airline 'vulnerable' if it's not bought by IAG

Aer Lingus will become "increasingly vulnerable" if it's not taken over by British Airways owner IAG, its new chief executive has warned TDs and senators. Stephen Kavanagh, who'll take over the top Aer Lingus job from March 1, also told the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport last night that there would be a "limited" number of job losses if the a 1.4bn takeover goes ahead, but that redeployment opportunities would also arise.
