US - USDA's March "Hogs and Pigs" report said the nation's swine breeding herd inventory was up 0.3 per cent compared to a year ago and the inventory of market hogs was down 3.7 per cent compared to 1 March 2013. This was more bearish than the average of pre-release trade predictions, write Ron Plain and Scott Brown.
