Sprint expands 5G coverage, to offer Hatch cloud gaming on 5G smartphones

(Telecompaper) The cloud gaming service Hatch has another mobile operator partner with Sprint. The US carrier will offer access to Hatch pre-loaded on its 5G smartphones, including a three-month free trial. Sprint also announced the expansion of its 5G service to new markets and the launch of the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G model.

Deutsche Telekom to launch cloud gaming service MagentaGaming

(Telecompaper) MagentaGaming enables users to play video games independently of their PC or console. The computing power originates from the cloud and the games are streamed on devices. It works on Windows PCs (Windows 7, 8 and 10), Mac (MacOS X) and Android devices. Telkom plans to use it for iOS and Xbox, too. Controllers can be connected via Bluetooth, WLAN or USB.

Microsoft profit leaps almost 50% in Q4 buoyed by commercial cloud

(Telecompaper) CEO Satya Nadella said it was a record fiscal year for the company and that in the quarter, the company returned USD 7.7 billion to shareholders in the form of buybacks and dividends. For the full year, revenues advanced 14 percent to USD 125.8 billion, the operating income went 23 percent higher to USD 43.0 billion and the net profit jumped 137 percent to USD 39.2 billion or USD 5.06 per diluted share.

AT&T partners Microsoft for cloud services, edge computing

(Telecompaper) AT&T has struck another major deal in the IT sector. After IBM, the operator has partnered with Microsoft to expand its cloud operations, both within the company and for customers. Microsoft will be the preferred cloud provider for non-network applications, as part of AT&T's broader public cloud first strategy, and will support AT&T as it consolidates its data centre infrastructure and operations. The companies will also develop joint services, focusing on edge computing and 5G developments.
