The numbers didn't move up a lot, but home sales in Sangamon County are at their best October level in a decade. Figures from the Capital-Area Association of Realtors indicate 345 homes being sold last month, up one-point-seven percent from the same period a year ago - following what president Kristie DeBrun says was a strong summer.

Americans snapped up more homes in September, suggesting that the U.S. housing sector remains insulated from global economic turmoil. The National Association of Realtors said Thursday that sales of existing homes jumped 4.7 per cent last month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.55 million.
