In partnership with National Science Foundation (NSF), BIO will feature Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)-funded, early-stage industrial biotech companies at BIO's 13th Annual World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology (San Diego, CA from April 17–20). BIO's Brent Erickson explained that, "Through the SBIR grant program, qualified companies can move forward and bring innovative technologies to market" and encouraged attendees to "stop by and learn about these exciting companies."

SES - Society for Standards Professionals and U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day Planning Committee are co-sponsoring annual paper competition for individuals in U.S. standards community. Authors may choose to address 2016 World Standards Day theme of "Standards Build Trust" or another domestic (U.S.) or international topic of their choosing. World Bank lending arm sees off lawsuit by Indian fishermen

Guardian: A Washington DC judge has ruled that the World Bank cannot be sued in a case brought by Indian fishermen and farmers who said that an investment by the Banks private sector arm in a giant coal-fired power plant had destroyed their livelihoods.
