Sue Sachdeva will get out of federal prison 33 months early for cooperating with federal prosecutors in other cases related to her $34 million embezzlement from Koss Corp. After a hearing that lasted less than 15 minutes Thursday morning at the federal courthouse in downtown Milwaukee, U.S. District Court Judge Lynn Adelman granted a motion by the U.S. Attorney's office and Sachdeva's attorney. The attorneys sought a 25 percent reduction in her 11-year sentence.

Four residents of Maryville in Blount County, Tennessee, have filed a $5 million class action lawsuit against railroad CSX Transportation Inc., and Union Tank Car Co. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee in Knoxville, was filed by four residents who were evacuated from their homes when a train car carrying the toxic chemical acrylonitrile derailed after midnight on July 2 and caught fire.

The five-member panel voted unanimously Tuesday to file a lawsuit in a Montana district court sometime before Sept. 1. The complaint will ask the court to levy fines against CenturyLink QC for violating the commission's rule that 90 percent of trouble reports be cleared within 24 hours.

Teamsters sue regional airline over bonuses for new pilots

Unions say that low pay is creating a pilot shortage at regional airlines, but the Teamsters are taking the unusual step of suing an airline for giving more money to pilots it represents. Republic Airline and Shuttle America have been paying their 2,200 pilots premiums for working on their off days and offering signing bonuses of up to $12,500 for new hires.
